Autism in the Classroom - Session 2 - Creating an Autism-friendly Classroom - Online - July 22nd - 10am - 1pm

In this session, we will explore practical ways to make the classroom more Autism-friendly and supportive for all learners. Building on the understanding gained in session 1, we'll look at how small, thoughtful changes to the environment, routines and approaches can really help autistic students feel more comfortable and able to engage.

We’ll explore things like classroom layout, visual supports, clear communication, and predictable routines, as well as ways to reduce sensory overload. The aim is to keep it realistic and achievable, with ideas that can be put into practice straight away.
We will consider emotional regulation and the importance of co-regulation within the education setting.

There’ll also be space to reflect on what’s already working and to share ideas, so it feels relevant to your own classroom.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a range of practical strategies to help create a calmer, more inclusive learning environment that supports autistic students to do their best.
